Chris Hemsworth as Thor in Thor Love and Thunder (2022)

Fandango has shared an exclusive new behind-the-scenes look at Thor: Love and Thunder in which the cast praises director Taika Waititi for his work on the film. The film opens in UK cinemas next week (July 7).

Love and Thunder is just so loud and in your face and flamboyant” Waititi comments in the new featurette. “This movie is just going to double down on Ragnarok and how vibrant the worlds are.” He goes on to say “I wanted to make a crazy space adventure, but also something that is emotional and means something.”

MCU veteran Chris Hemsworth calls Waititi a “big kid, sort of a genius child. His imagination is second to none.” Thor: Love and Thunder is the 9th film in which Hemsworth will play the God of Thunder, excluding shorts. Thor assembles a new team in his latest outing, which includes Korg (Taika Waititi), King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), the Guardians of the Galaxy, and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) – who now wields Thor’s Mjolnir as The Mighty Thor. Together, they must stop Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) before it’s too late.

Bale calls Waititi a “very bloody original filmmaker” and says he’s “mind-blowingly talented.“. Waititi has previously gone on record to say that his second directorial effort for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has “the best villain that Marvel’s ever had in Christian Bale.”

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
